whenever someone says that arranged marriages never work

I tell them what my mother’s favorite day was. It was her wedding day, and she considers my father her best friend and lover and she never regrets her parents finding her a husband.

My best friend’s parents had an arranged marriage, and they are the happiest couple I know.

Never work? My parents have been married for 31 years.

I guess it depends on what you consider “arranged”. My parents met a couple of times with chaperones and then got married.

I don’t see how someone can say they never work.

The description I got from my old boss about his arranged marriage made it sound really nice actually. Basically, his parents and grandparents got together and played matchmaker and his wive’s parents and grandparents were doing the same.

If I lived at home or was really close to my parents, I’d absolutely go for that.
